“VIENNA — The Fridays at the Library gardening series will begin in February at the Vienna Public Library.
The series is in its sixth year and is held noon-3 p.m. Fridays beginning Feb. 7 at the library. Gardening enthusiasts of all skill levels are welcome.
Past topics have included beneficial insects, kitchen garden herbs, improving garden soil and other subjects. Master Gardeners are present at each session to help answer questions.
The workshops are sponsored by the Wood County Master Gardeners, WVU Extension Service and the library. All events are free and open to the public.
Door prizes such as seed packets and herbs will be available as well as healthy refreshments.
Master Gardeners are extension volunteers trained in small-scale food production, horticulture, and gardening. Volunteers in turn share their knowledge with the community.
The Parkersburg-Wood County Public Library Arboretum, Armstrong Garden in Williamstown, Edison Arboretum and several area Community Gardens are among past projects of the Master Gardeners.
