Friends of the Library: Book Sale

fall book sale

October 16-21 is National Friends of the Library week! To celebrate, the Friends of the Library’s Fall Book Sale will be October 20-21st from 10-5pm each day. The preview sale for Friends members only will be October 19th from 6-8pm. Most books are $1 each, newer editions are $4.

On Saturday the 21st from 10-2pm, books will be half-price. At 2pm, the Friends will provide plastic bags for our popular bag sale. Each bag will be $2. Patrons must use the bags we provide.

The Library is currently accepting books for this sale. When the library’s capacity for storage is filled, we ask that books be taken to the Vienna City building at 609 29th St. Please note that we cannot accept encyclopedias, magazines, dictionaries, textbooks, or damaged books. Thank you!

Upcoming Friends Meeting Dates: Sept. 19 and Nov. 14 at 6:30pm

Design a Mural for Our Library!

We need your bottle caps!

The Vienna Public Library is making a bottle cap mural and would like to invite you to create the design. Please use the form below to design a mural for us and return this sheet to the front desk. Winning design will be recreated into a bottle cap mural to be kept as a long term installation in our meeting room. (Please no copyrighted characters).

Design a Mural form!

Vienna Public Library staff will pick the top 5 murals. Patrons can vote on their favorite July 16-26. Winner will be announced at the end of Summer Reading July 28th, 2017! Work on the mural will begin soon after and it should be finished in August 2017.

Need Volunteers?

Does your group need volunteers? Are you interested in volunteering in our community, but aren’t sure where to start?

We have a program for that!

Our Library’s Summer Reading Program this year is entitled “Build a Better World.” We believe the first step is giving back to our local communities. To help our patrons with this task, we are hosting a Volunteer Fair on July 1st from 11-2pm. We are looking for non-profit groups who would be interested in holding a table advertising your group with the goal of gaining new volunteers. We are also inviting local groups, such as the boy scouts, who seek volunteer work to attend. We know the work you do in our community is enhanced by the help of fantastic volunteers.

Our goal for this fair is to provide a space for your group to advertise needs or to simply advocate your cause to our library patrons. Please contact our Adult Services Coordinator as soon as possible if your group is interested in participating as our space is limited. You can e-mail her at or call 304-295-7771, ext. 3.
